Go Rimbaud, go Rimbaud!

I get fixated real easily on music and art that get me in a mood I can’t shake—right now I got Patti Smith – Land of a Thousand Dances stuck on repeat. You gotta know her, (and if you don’t, google it) so I don’t have to explain that she’s a rock and roll proto-punk poet artist icon…but this nine-minute song takes me on a ride and I’m a sucker for beautiful, devastating stories. And as you do with these influences I dug into what the fuck it was about and came up with

Had to find it. Not only does the title of the novel get my blood going—can’t say enough about a good title—but I know some of Borroughs, I never read this one and it is madness. Sensual and poetic and surreal and apocalyptic. I can’t say that I love it yet, but I can’t look away. Maybe my own genderfluidity is being jostled but regardless, I keep thinking about it. 80% of the time I don’t understand what is happening, but the visuals come all the same. Maybe that’s the intention, to inspire some homoerotic fever dream. Whatever he did it’s working.

And I gotta say it’s a breath of fresh air from some of the stale contemporary mass media genre shit I’ve been studying for the last year. I think it’s about time to go back to my roots.

We got pen knives, and jack knives, and switch blades preferred!
